Brings together leading investigators from across Europe to compare the basic properties of stem cells and to evaluate their therapeutic potential. The project involves eleven academic institutes and three small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from eight European countries. The researchers have expertise in transgenesis, stem cell biology, developmental biology, tissue repair, in vivo disease models and clinical cell transplantation.

The CSCN's mission is to be a catalyst for enabling translation of stem cell research into clinical applications, commercial products or public policy.
-
The ICSCN is a ‘network of networks’ that aims to unify international efforts to accelerate opportunities to make stem cell therapy a reality for a broad range of debilitating diseases. The ICSCN is chaired by the Scientific Director of the Stem Cell Network Canada. The ICSCN meets annually in conjunction with the ISSCR Annual Meeting.

ISSCR is an independent, nonprofit organization established to promote and foster the exchange and dissemination of information and ideas relating to stem cells, to encourage the general field of research involving stem cells and to promote professional and public education in all areas of stem cell research and application.
-
The SSCN brings together scientists, clinicians, business and society to enable advances in stem cell biology to be rapidly translated to deliver new treatments for degenerative diseases.
-
SNAP promotes the development of a research community in the region through increased communications, collaboration and exchange.
-
The Network is designed to advance the discovery of basic molecular, cellular and organismic mechanisms of embryonic and adult stem cell functions in human and all model systems.
-
The UKNSCN's central mission is the promotion of research activities and events at the national level which help to speed the translation of basic stem cell research into therapeutic applications in the control of degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and diabetes.

ESTOOLS is the largest grouping of human embryonic stem cell researchers in Europe. Their cutting-edge research programme will investigate the biology of human embryonic stem cells and the molecular circuitry that governs their differentiation into more specialized cell types. As their name suggests, they plan to develop the tools, techniques and expertise necessary for eventual medical, pharmaceutical and bioindustrial applications of human ES cell research.
